The need for renewable sources of energy is increasing. Investing in renewable sources has become the latest way of conserving energy and fulfilling the needs. Among the renewable sources, Ocean energy holds an important position.

Ocean energy can be tapped in two ways. It can be developed through Tidal dams and ocean currents. Dams are based on using a barrage at a bay or estuary with a large tidal range. As the barrage creates a significant head of water, the power is generated at ebb tides.
In tidal turbines, the fast flowing currents are used to create energy. The tidal turbines include horizontal axis turbines that in many ways are analogous to wind turbines. These wind turbines create almost 1 MW of power.

Sun’s heat warms the surface water, while the deep ocean water remains cold and this way, Ocean thermal energy is created. The surface water can be more than 40 degrees warmer than the deep water in some areas, especially tropical areas. The ocean energy thus created is used to generate electricity by taking advantage of this vast temperature difference. Tidal power investment is becoming a safe and sure option for scores of investors across the world.
