Intersolar North America 2009 Conference Program - San Francisco, CA

Intersolar North America, the most diverse international business-to-business trade show in the United States for the global solar industry, has announced the tracks and speakers for the 2009 Conference, July 14-16. The 2009 Conference topics include series on photovoltaics, solar thermal, equipment and materials manufacturing, policy analysis and performance and standardization. Approximately 150 speakers from the private sector (Piper Jaffrey's Jesse Pichel), solar companies (Solaria's Philip Kunze, Applied Materials' Dr. Winfried Hoffman and Akeena Solar's Barry Cinnamon), institutes and associations (CalSEIA's Sue Kateley, Sandia Lab's Ward Bower and Fraunhofer ISE's Gerhard Stryi-Hipp) and policymakers (the Department of Energy's Scott Stephens and the National Renewable Energy Laboratory's John Benner) will participate in the Intersolar North America 2009 Conference, held at the Intercontinental Hotel, next to the 2009 Exhibition location, Moscone West.

"Intersolar North America 2009 begins its second year as a major international conference addressing the most important issues facing the solar industry," said Paula Mints, Principal Analyst Navigant Consulting PV Services Program and Intersolar North America Conference Committee member. The conference in solar-friendly California is one of the best venues for the entire solar value chain to learn or expand existing knowledge on using technology to expand profit margins and creating effective business models. The 2009 conference program and speakers will help the industry make the most of technology advancements, government incentives and global partnerships to truly transform the market. Among the topics to be explored at the 2009 Conference are low-cost methods for achieving higher efficiencies, new inverter technology options, thin film improvements, concentrating technologies, solar thermal power plants, solar air conditioning, and maximizing the value of solar power generation with smart grid.

Over the past year worldwide PV installations totaled about 5,600 MW, with market analysts forecasting similar construction quotas for 2009. To compliment these encouraging numbers, Intersolar North America has expanded both the 2009 Conference and Exhibition to best address the needs of the international solar industry. Specifically, the Solar Gigawatts Symposium will cover the latest policy, market and industry developments in the leading European solar countries to identify lessons applicable to the US market. The event builds on key results derived from discussions of Intersolar Munich's Solar Gigawatts Symposium, which will take place in May 2009.

In total, this year's Conference program will include over 25 tracks, circa 150 speakers and 1,600 expected attendees. Additionally, Intersolar North America has tripled the size of last year's exhibition, bringing the 2009 total floor space to approximately 120,000 net square feet and with an expected 500 exhibitors. Nearly 400 exhibitors from 22 countries worldwide are currently confirmed to exhibit with 15,000 expected attendees anticipated at this year's event. Individual track prices vary. Attendees can take advantage of early bird rates until June 5. Each conference registration includes a free exhibition pass.
